A fascinating three-dimensional model of our solar system that invites children to study interesting data about each of the planets. Full color. 12 panels.

      Children's Literature

This book is a very large fold out of the solar system. Each planet is featured on a panel with facts about it, such as its size, distance from the sun, atmosphere, and the composition of the planet. The book presents the planets in the order of their distance from the sun. It also gives a few facts about the sun itself, the star at the center of our solar system. 1996 (orig.

April 02, 2009: My three year old loves this book because it is small and folds up, and of course for the pictures of the planets. The facts about each planet are a bit sophisticated for him, but he loves to carry the book around and tell people what he remembers about each planet (e.g. venus is very hot, saturn has rings). And I figure he can grow into that feature of the book. If your kid likes space, this is a good addition to the library. Further note, it does still have Pluto as a planet, but it's good for historical value.
