Using "Lebanese" as a blanket term for all of the Ecuadorian immigrants from the Middle East, this work examines why many of the immigrants have been financially and politically successful despite racist receptions. The author follows the family histories of some successful Lebanese in Guayaquil and locates the reasons for their success in their culture and in their attraction to the export market of Ecuador. Library of Congress cataloguing gives the author as "Roberts, Lois Crawford de." Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
