    Synopsis

After the seeming defeat of the dark archon Ulrezaj on the protoss homeworld of Aiur, Jake and Rosemary become separated as they flee through the newly repaired warp gate. Rosemary finds herself with the other refugee protoss on Shakuras, while Jake is catapulted elsewhere. But Jake does not have long to live: their enemies are regrouping, and Zamara's essence must be separated from Jake's mind before time runs out.

Jake knows he must survive long enough for Zamara to pass on her vital secret. But which faction — Valerian, zerg, or the recovered and increasingly powerful Ulrezaj — will find them first? His only hope rests with the powerful and legendary Zeratul, but as Jake is about to learn...even a dark templar can have a crisis of faith.

August 22, 2009: I love this series it's very compeling, action packed and a dash of mystery and pinch of love story. However I must warn you. If you buy these books for a hisory of he dark templar and only for that reason don't bother. You would be better off on a Star Craft wiki. It will give you a bit of an inside look to the prtoss history but it's more of a fun story than a "compelling documentary." Other than that buy it this is a story for your gaming archives.

July 15, 2009: Just finished this book, being the third in a trilogy, and it was great. Christie Golden really does a fantastic job in the StarCraft/WarCraft universe and she delivered a great ending to this story. There is a neat subtle hanger that she leaves (which I won't mention) that hopefully will tie in with StarCraft 2.

The characters 'peaked' much in the way I expected to them with the exception of Valerian (all I will say) but I was pleased with the outcome. I do wish that there was a little more end content, it seemed to finish off a bit abruptly for my taste, but by no means disappointing. If you haven't read the other two in this series, obviously read them first.

I really hope that Blizzard asks Christie to write some more novels in the StarCraft/WarCraft universe, and hopefully with the upcoming StarCraft 2 game, she will be gracious enough to pump out another half dozen books or so :)
