    Synopsis

There are far worse evils than jazz and lipstick...

By day, Allegra Chase lives among the artists and eccentrics of 1920s Greenwich Village, in search of adventure. By night, she haunts the city's back alleys and seedy speakeasies, driven by a more primal hunger. Here, amid the glitz and unrestrained morals of jazz-age society, even a vampire can fall prey to the temptations of the flesh. One look into the golden eyes of the dashing Griffin Durant, and Allegra knows she's not dealing with just a man...

Though their kind have been enemies for centuries, Griffin has never encountered a vampire as independent, uninhibited or eager for his touch as Allegra. Yet their newfound desire is threatened by a jealous vampire master, and a race war seems inevitable. Griffin and Allegra must struggle to stay out of harm's way--and hold on to their dream of an eternity of passion.

    Biography

Susan Krinard never dreamed of becoming a writer. Trained as an artist with a BFA in Illustration from the California College of Arts and Crafts, she first considered the possibility when a friend read a short story she'd written—"Fan Fiction" based on the television show "Beauty and the Beast"—and suggested she try writing a romance novel. A longtime reader of science fiction and fantasy, Susan began reading romance—and realized what she wanted to do was combine the two genres. Prince of Wolves, her first romance novel, was the result. Within a year, Susan had sold the manuscript to Bantam in 1993 as part of a three-book contract, and the novel went on to make several bestseller lists.

Since then, Susan has written thirteen fantasy romance novels and several novellas, including Kinsman in the New York Times Bestseller Out of This World, and has begun a new fantasy series with LUNA Books, which launched with Shield of the Sky in 2004.

Born and raised in California, Susan now makes her home in New Mexico, the "Land of Enchantment," with her husband, Serge, her dogs Brownie, Freya and Nahla, and her cat, Jefferson. In addition to writing, Susan's interests include music—especially classical, oldies and new age—old movies, nature, baking and making jewelry for artisan beads.

Paranormal Romance succeeds in this caseby JMiranda

December 26, 2008: This book is one of the most amazing things that i have experience in reading out of almost every romance novel that i have encountered on. "Chasing Midnight" by Susan Krinard is what i call a romance with a twist to it. I know it sounds cheesy but things just work out like that in my head. The point is that i have never read a book that came with so many twist in it that i was willing to stay up and read it forever at a time. From every book that i have read so far, i would recommend this book to anyone is just bored and want to read on a rainey day or even if its a student and has nothing to do on a break. If anything this book would turn things out of what it is usually acquired to =]

September 04, 2008: I enjoyed the Roaring Twenties setting very much and loved the mix of vampires and werewolves and the social mores of the time. The story itself was enjoyable for me as I was reading this for distraction from work stress, pleasure, a stay-cation activity with all the conveniences of home and no TSA to hassle with - this book provided me with all of that and food for thought. I liked it so much that I am leaving it on my shelf - which has very little room for extra books. That's always a good sign for an author. I look forward to more of her books.
