    Synopsis

About three things I was absolutely positive:
    First, Edward was a vampire.
Second, there was a part of him–and I didn’t know how dominant that part might be–that thirsted for my blood.
And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.

Isabella Swan's move to Forks, a small, perpetually rainy town in Washington, could have been the most boring move she ever made. But once she meets the mysterious and alluring Edward Cullen, Isabella's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. Up until now, Edward has managed to keep his vampire identity a secret in the small community he lives in, but now nobody is safe, especially Isabella, the person Edward holds most dear. The lovers find themselves balanced precariously on the point of a knife -- between desire and danger.

Deeply romantic and extraordinarily suspenseful, Twilight captures the struggle between defying our instincts and satisfying our desires. This is a love story with bite.

    Publishers Weekly

In our Best Books citation, PW called this tale of a teen attracted to a vampire, a "riveting first novel, equal parts suspense and romance." Ages 12-up. (Sept.) Copyright 2006 Reed Business Information.

Didn't live up to the hype...by helkiah

November 22, 2009: but it didn't necessarily disappoint, either. Overall, it lacks depth, but it's an entertaining enough junk-read. I found Edward cute enough to follow, even if I don't understand his interest in Bella, who frankly, is on the boring side.

    I Also Recommend: New Moon.

November 22, 2009: When young Bella Swan leaves her home in Phoenix, Arizona to live with her dad in Forks, Washington she revisits everything she once knew, along with more. Bella soon discovers a new obsession.Edward Cullen. As Bella and Edward fall for each other, Edwards's true identity puts Bella in danger. As this action, love story continues Bella realizes Edward isn't the human she thought he was.but rather a forbidden fruit that thirsts for her sweet nectar.

Bella, along with her new friends; she meets at her new high school; go to the beach- La Push. As she walks with Jacob Black along the beach he tells Bella about an old tribal legend.Bella is stunned when she discovers that the tribal story is about Jacob's tribe being werewolves and the Cullen's being vampires. As Bella's life in Forks continues she runs into Edward during every life threatening situation.Such as when she is about to be hit by a car, then to her surprise Edward comes to her rescue. When she finds herself caught by Edward she see's that he pushed away the car along with making it to her with light speed. After being saved,Bella begins to put all the pieces together. The only logical explanation she could come to was Edward was. a vampire. As she confronts Edward, he becomes scared for Bella's life. Edward tells Bella, "I've never tried to keep a specific person alive before, and it's much more troublesome than I would have believed. But that's probably just because it's you."(174, Meyer) As Bella and Edward try avoiding each other, their obsession for one another continues to bring them even closer.

Some of the themes in Twilight are; once someone finds true love don't let it go, even if it could be harmful to someone's life. This fictional story also includes some biblical connections such as the forbidden fruit, Bella Swan see's how beautiful Edward is and no matter how hard she tries to resist him, even when all her friends tell her to not waste her time, she can help but fall for Edward.

Twilight is a fiction story that becomes realistic.Stephanie Meyer has done remarkable work at making this fictional story come alive within every page. "As we walked north across the multihued stones toward the driftwood seawall, the clouds finally closed ranks across the sky, causing the sea to darken and the temperature to drop." (122, Meyer)The reader gets the feeling that he/ she is there. This fictional love story includes many romantic parts, "His fingers traced slowly down my spine, his breath coming more quickly against my skin. My hands were limp on his chest, and I felt lightheaded again. He tilted his head slowly and touched his cool lips to mine for the second time, very carefully, parting them slightly." (319, Meyer) Although as great as this romantic, action packed story is, this book doesn't give the female characters any power. Such as when Edward tells Bella, "you don't realize how breakable you are I can never, never afford to lose any kind of control when im with you."(310, Meyer) In today's society women are seen to have more courage. This isnt demonstrated in Twilight.

Twilight is a great, romantic, fictional story that takes place in present day United States. Although the topic of this tory is hard to believe, Stephanie Meyer does an incredible job at making the story realistic.

Twilight is a series. Stephanie Meyer continues this #1 New York Times fictional story with three others.Twilight is continued with new Moon,...
