      Synopsis

America Is in the Heart. This autobiography of the Filipino poet describes his boyhood in the Philippines, his voyage to America, and his years of hardship and despair as an itinerant laborer following the harvest trail in the rural West. Bulosan does not spare the reader any of the horrors that accompanied the migrant's life; but his quiet, stoic voice is the most convincing witness to the terrible events he witnessed.

January 14, 2002: America is in the heart gives a first hand perspective on being an immigrant from the Philippines to the United States. He uncovers the discrimination that Filipinos faced during the early 1900s. As a Filipino-American, this story really hit home for me. It's was an enjoyable read which took me only 3 days to finish.
