In a great green room, tucked away in bed, is a little bunny. "Goodnight room, goodnight moon." And to all the familiar things in the softly lit room--to the picture of the three little bears sitting in chairs, to the clocks and his socks, to the mittens and the kittens, to everything one by one--he says goodnight.
In this classic of modern children's literature, beloved by generations of readers and listeners, the quiet poetry of the words and the gentle, lulling illustrations combine to make a perfect book for the end of the day.
A little rabbit bids goodnight to each familiar thing in his moonlit room. Rhythmic, gently lulling words combined with warm and equally lulling pictures make this beloved classic "an ideal bedtime book.
More Reviews and RecommendationsWhat child hasn’t been lulled to sleep -- or at least comforted -- by the gentle rhymes of Margaret Wise Brown’s classic Goodnight Moon? Brown, a former teacher, believed that very young children could be fascinated in the simple pleasures of the world around them, and created some of the most enduring and beloved children’s books of all time.

January 10, 2010: Good book. Not one of those books my toddler like to read over and over though. He does enjoy it though.

January 02, 2010: My husband and I memorized the entire text as we read and re-read this book to our two daughters.
We started reading this book to them when they were 4 months old, and the words were soothing and appropriate right before bedtime (or at any time at all). As they grew, they loved to point to, and name, all of the things in each scene-- helping them develop vocabulary and the ability to take the time to scan a book's pages and focus on the task of reading. And for fun, they would always look for where the little mouse was hiding in each page as we turned the page. Then we started to point out simple words and pointing to each word as we read them, and they started to follow along as well! There are objects in the room portrayed on the pages, that reference other Margaret Wise books, which we got copies of, and the girls liked the connection to other stories when we went back to re-read Goodnight Moon! We have given a copy of this book to all of our friends who are about to welcome children into their lives. Our own copy of the book has been put away for safe keeping along with baby things, per our teen daughters' request.I Also Recommend: The Runaway Bunny, Good Night, Gorilla, Big Red Barn, The Journey Of A Grape.

About Goodnight Moon
