Fourteen contributions from European and American linguists discuss verb-particle constructions in Germanic languages. A variety of theoretical and methodological approaches are used in the analysis of the syntactic, semantic, morphological, and psycholinguistic phenomena associated with these constructions. Coverage includes such topics as a comparison of word order in particle verbs in Dutch and English and the formal difference between particles and other words in Swedish. Most of the papers were originally presented at a workshop held in February 2000 in Leipzig. Annotation ©2003 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
