    Synopsis

A time-slip novel set in contemporary and Anglo-Saxon England, Elegy for a Queen is the story of Susannah Miller, who is haunted by recent tragedy and by echoes from the distant past.

The ghost of a Saxon queen, whose story unfolds with the discovery of ancient documents in a cathedral library, inspires Susannah, but also brings her perilously close to madness and death. When Susannah summons up the courage to face the demons that have chased her and her alter ego down the centuries, she finds peace and, most unexpectedly, an unselfish love that was missing in her former life.

Played out against the background of an archaeological excavation in the English countryside, this story is about different kinds of love, and how its power can destroy or enrich lives.

Margaret James is the author of nine previous novels, a regular contributor to Writing Magazine and is very active in the Romantic Novelists' Association.
