      This is the first-ever practical critical edition of the holograph manuscript of Calderon's comedy La desdicha de la voz, signed and dated by the dramatist on 14th May 1639. Given the importance of the manuscript, this edition preserves Calderon's original spelling, while as an aid to the reader, punctuation, accentuation and capitalization are supplied in accordance with modern practice.
