About the Author

Eminent Civil War historian Steven E. Woodworth is the author of numerous books on the War, several of which have been Military Book Club and History Book Club selections, including Jefferson Davis and His Generals (1990), which was a main selection of History Book Club. He has also written numerous articles for Civil War magazines, including, Blue & Gray, America's Civil War and Civil War Times Illustrated. He is a professor at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas.
