      Synopsis

Originally published by Harper and Row in 1968, this volume seeks to answer the question, "What is the meaning and truth of the Christian assertions that God is love, that love to God and neighbor are the two great Commandments, that the fulfillment of human love depends upon God's action of reconciliation, and that the love of God is the ground of all hope?" A full-scale interpretation of love from the standpoint of process theology, which stresses the concepts of evolution, growth, and becoming, the author asserts that if God is love, then he must be in interaction with the world.
