July 09, 2001: The book contains short and up to the point summary of the current theoretical approaches towards integration and could be of use for those who are just making their way through the complex and rather confusing sea of ideas in this field. But what is the most precious in the book, that is its original theoretical framework. It is a sophisticated extension of Andrew Moravcsik?s concept of demand and supply, it is very conceptual and is really useful for those who are curious what makes a regional integration arrangement to work and how to assess its' chances to succeed. The framework is easily applicable to any kind of RIA and seems really trustable as a theoretical instrument for case studies. Another good thing about it is that the theory is richly illustrated with European and non-European arrangements and is a good guide through the contemporary regional politics of all the continents. It is not euro-centric and offers an impressive global perspective.
