    Synopsis

For Sookie Stackhouse, the day to day activities of the vampire and were communities in and around Bon Temps, Louisiana, are of vital interest, She's blood-bound to the leader of the vamps, a friend to the local were pack, works for a man who is shifter, and has a brother who is a were-panther…

But for most of the humans in Bon Temps, the vamps are mysterious seductive creatures-and they don't even know about the weres.

Until now. The weres and shifters have finally decided to follow the lead of the undead and reveal their existence to the ordinary world.

At first it seems to go well. Then the mutilated body of a were-panther is found in the parking lot of the bar where Sookie works. The victim is someone she knows, so she feels compelled to discover who-human or otherwise-did the deed.

But what she doesn't realize is that there is a far greater danger than the killer threatening Bon Temps. A race of unhuman beings--older, more powerful and far more secretive than vampires or werewolves-- is preparing for war. And Sookie will find herself an all-too human pawn in their battle…

    Publishers Weekly

Telepathic waitress Sookie Stackhouse braces herself for trouble when another group of supernatural beings goes public in her disjointed eighth adventure (after 2008's From Dead to Worse). Following the vampires' lead, the shape-shifters decide to step out of the woodwork and announce their existence to the world. While the initial reveal goes smoothly, the brutal crucifixion of a young werepanther behind the local bar makes Sookie wonder if the people of Bon Temps, La., are as tolerant as she thought. Meanwhile, the FBI is asking questions about Sookie's uncanny ability to locate survivors after an explosion, and trouble is brewing among the secretive fae. Harris tries to cram too much into a single story, and even die-hard fans of Sookie's adventures in print and on HBO's True Blood will complain about the plot gaps. (May)

My vote is for Bill!by Stelicious

November 08, 2009: I read all the books and just finished this one. And let me start by saying, if Bill wasn't still written in, I would have stop reading long ago. I personally feel nothing for Eric and so nor wish to see him with Sookie. Yes Bill did 2 awful things but I don't see them as real betrayels. He didn't know Sookie when he agreed to the deed for the Queen and as far as his maker/mother, the author herself has wrote about how he couldn't possibly deny his maker. What if Eric's maker (who is dead since book 2 but regardless) came-a-callin while he is with Sookie. He would have had to go right. So..ugh anyway I am mad at Ms Harris for taking Bill's character's direction down that road. I feel Bill is the only one who truly truly loves Sookie. I am think I am the only fan of Bill's, but that's ok.

As far as the writing is, it's good and these books are enjoyable. But I am glad that I have to wait for book 10 now. I need a break.
