      Synopsis

Stuntwoman Dawn Madison's father vanished while he was investigating the bizarre sighting of a supposedly long-dead child star. Joining her father's odd P.I. colleagues for the search, Dawn discovers an erotic and bloody underground society made up of creatures she thought existed only on the screen—and some of them are dangerously attractive.

      Publishers Weekly

Green makes an obvious comment on Hollywood's cult of youth and celebrity in her florid debut, in which superstars become vampires to preserve their beauty and prolong their fame. Dawn Madison, a 24-year-old stuntwoman, is drawn into battle with supernatural forces from La-La Land's "Underground" when her PI father, Frank, disappears. She teams up with his associates: psychic "little person" Kiko Daniels; Breisi, a gorgeous Latina techo-geek; and their boss, a seductive, disembodied voice with whom Dawn enjoys some powerful disembodied sex. They search for Frank and answers to the mystery of child star Robby Pennybaker, who hoped to mature into an adult career, but whose dad pimped him out to the vamps, freezing him as a monstrous 12-year-old. Though the plot doesn't quite hang together, Dawn makes a spunky vampire slayer. (Feb.) Copyright 2006 Reed Business Information.

April 06, 2009: I have to say that I really disliked the main character. I thought the concept was fairly interesting, but just didn't like Dawn at all. I did finish the first book but unfortunately I had bought all three of the books (big mistake), luckily I still had my receipt and was able to return them all in time. Very unfortunate and I really love vampire, werewolves, etc. books and have read lots of them.

If you really want something good, I highly recommend the Night Huntress Series by Jeaniene Frost or the Cassandra Palmer books by Karen Chance.

I Also Recommend: Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress Series #1), One Foot in the Grave (Night Huntress Series #2), At Grave's End (Night Huntress Series #3), Midnight Reign (Vampire Babylon Series #2), Break of Dawn (Vampire Babylon Series #3).
