    Synopsis

The seventh book in the popular Vampire Huntress Legend series.

    Publishers Weekly

Weird energy is going down, and demon-killing Damali is not at all herself in Banks's seventh Vampire Huntress Legend (after The Damned). Soon after Damali walks out on her soul mate, ex-vampire Carlos Rivera, she meets a mysterious stranger who frightens-and tempts-her more than anyone or anything has before. Is he from the Light or from hell? Something is seriously wrong in the universe, and the forces of evil may be getting the upper hand. Banks lays a lot of wisdom on the line about male-female relationships, along with more of her complex cosmology that samples various religions, folklore and a wide array of myth. But it's the characters and their passions coupled with the author's wild imagination that drive the narrative. The story has gotten so complicated it may be difficult for a newcomer to fathom, but readers already enthralled with this sizzling series can look forward to major plot payoffs. Great series, but sometimes a little slowby Andrear25

May 04, 2009: I started reading this series with Minion (#1). I love the books and really enjoy the characters and the way they interact. It would have been nice to see a little more happening with the other characters from time to time, even though Damali and Carlos are the main focus. I am looking forward to reading the next installment, in spite of the fact that the books tend to drag a little in places. The author gets bogged down in too much detail sometimes and I find myself skipping paragraphs. Apart from that I continue to enjoy these books and am anticipating the big end of the world blow out that I know is coming!! If you enjoy reading about the supernatural then give this series a shot.

    The first L. A. Banks book I ever read!by azgemini68

February 17, 2009: I fell in love with Carlos and Damali in this book. I read it for the first time in July 2008. My daughter checked it out of the public library for me. At first, I put it aside since I had never read any of L. A. Banks' books before. I had the book for a week before reading the summary on the back cover.

I was hooked from page one. After reading chapter 1, I went online to the library website and requested a copy of every book in the series that they had, which were the first five books and the Forsaken. Afterwards, I went to vampire-huntress.com to learn more about the books in the series and found out about the remaining books.

I put in another request to the library to get the remaining books; which they did. If you live in Tucson, AZ, you can find a copy for all the books except the newest one; since it just came out.

I had to purchase the books because my children, who are 21- and 15-years old kept costing me library fines because they were rereading the books so often they would forget to return them.

We have discussions, while laughing hysterically, about Carlos, Damali, and the Guardians. The whole Neteru team has become like old friends. I won't tell the ending of the last book, The Thirtheenth; all I'll say is "YOU HAVE GOT TO READ IT!". It's the perfect ending for an outstanding series.

Ms. Banks is one of my favorite authors and I'm looking forward to reading her werewolf series. If they're anything like VHL series, I'll end up buying those too.

I Also Recommend: The Darkness (Vampire Huntress Legend Series #10), The Shadows (Vampire Huntress Legend Series #11), The Thirteenth (Vampire Huntress Legend #12), The Damned (Vampire Huntress Legend Series #6), The Damned (Vampire Huntress Legend Series #6).
