      Synopsis

Jeff Resnick hardly knew his well-heeled half-brother. But after suffering a fractured skull in a vicious mugging, he reluctantly accepts the fact that he has a long and brutal recovery to face..and his closest of kin can provide him with the time and place to do it.

Now, Jeff is haunted by unexplained visions of a heinous crime...a banker, stalked, killed, and eviscerated like a ten-point buck. When Matt Sumner's murder is discovered, a still-recovering Jeff realizes this was what he had seen. Jeff must not only convince himself of his new-found psychic ability, but also his skeptical brother Richard Alpert. Since Sumner was Richard's banker, both brothers have a stake in finding out what happened. With Richard's reluctant help, Jeff's investigation leads him to Sumner's belligerent family and hard-nosed business associates, none of whom want him snooping around.

When Jeff discovers a second victim, he knows he must relentlessly chase his quarry even if it means risking his brother's life.

May 01, 2006: I just finished reading LL Bartlett's Murder on the Mind. Good local color presents an appealing portrait of a little known city. Estranged brothers find a way to reach out to each other. The hero finds himself experiencing other people's emotions which add both information and mystery to the story without overwhelming it or making it simplistic. It's a fun read. I hope number two in the series is out soon.

Excellent mystery hopefully leading to a series!by Anonymous

November 28, 2005: Murder on the Mind, by L.L. Bartlett, is a remarkable story that pulls the reader in with subtle foreshadowing and rich character development. I appreciated the clarity of the writing, finding it moved the story along at a very quick pace, making it hard to put the book down until I had devoured the last page. L.L. Bartlett writes with skill, guiding the reader along Jeffrey Resnick's path as he explores a new found talent which forces him to help in solving crimes, and while he tries to convince everyone, including himself, that this talent is indeed something to trust. L.L. Bartlett weaves a story about psychic abilities into something that will leave the reader wanting more. Often, books with psychic phenomena in their plot line leave a great deal to be desired, but in Murder on the Mind, L.L. Bartlett provides solid action and intriguing twists and turns that are nothing but well executed. This was a book I thought about and chewed over for days after finishing it, and to me, that means it was an excellent story. I do hope this is the beginning of a long series following Resnick and his family, as I was left with a lot of interesting questions!
