From the bestselling author Robert Stanek, a fantasy epic you won't want to miss. Now available in a special hardcover edition or in a premium trade paperback edition. After the Great War that divided the peoples, the kingdoms of men plunged into a Dark Age that lasted five hundred years. To heal the lands and restore the light, the great kings decreed that magic and all that is magical, be it creature, man or device, shall be cleansed to dust. The cleansing raged for so long that no human could recall a time without it and it is in this time that the Dark Lord Sathar returned from the dark beyond. The one hope of the peoples of Ruin Mist was Queen Mother, the elf queen of old. She saw a way out of everlasting darkness, a path that required the union of the divided peoples. And so it began…
Robert is proud to have served in the Persian Gulf War as a combat crewmember on an electronic warfare aircraft. During the war, he flew numerous combat and combat support missions, logging over two hundred combat flight hours. His distinguished accomplishments during the Persian Gulf War earned him nine medals, including the United States of America's highest flying honor, the Air Force Distinguished Flying Cross. His career total was 17 medals in only 11 years of military service, making him one of the most highly decorated veterans of the Persian Gulf War.

September 14, 2006: Robert Stanek's Ruin Mist books are fantastic. The books are available in adult and children's editions. For adults, the books are the ones in the Ruin Mist Chronicles: Keeper Martin's Tale Kingdom Alliance Fields of Honor Mark of the Dragon Elf Queen's Quest is the first book in the Ruin Mist Dark Path, which is an alternate telling of the story. Read Elf Queen's Quest only if you enjoyed the previous four and can't wait for the new Lost Ages series. If you've read the Ender books by Orson Scott Card, you probably understand how good an alternate telling of a story can be. In Stanek's Elf Queen's Quest, the differences in the telling are more subtle, but if you've read the other books, you can see the differences, and can guess at the direction of the dark path.

October 04, 2003: Robert Stanek is hands down my favorite author. 'Elf Queen's Quest' is the second book in the series titled 'Ruin Mist Chronicles' and unlike most books it doesn't pick up right after the first book in the series. Instead, Stanek detours back a bit to give us new views of some happenings while the story we read took place elsewhere and also provides a wealth of new story lines. So far anyone looking for the continuation of 'Keeper Martin's Tale'. This isn't it. As it states at the end of 'Keeper Martin's Tale' the continuation of that story line is written in 'Kingdom Alliance'. As others have said read 'Keeper Martin's Tale' and then 'Kingdom Alliance' and if you find that you must know everything that is happening to these characters and in this world (like most readers) come back to 'Elf Queen's Quest' 'Elf Queen's Quest' doesn't disappoint. It blows almost every book that I've read out of the water because Stanek is such an awesome author. The story starts off with a riveting prologue in the Reaches and then takes us to the story of a character we've rarely seen in the other books- Midori. She is a Priestess of the Mother, and if you've been paying attention you know her deepest secrets from the other books, which makes her all the more interesting. The story from there intertwines with much of what we've seen already with many new pieces put into the puzzle. With this book comes a deeper, darker look at the fantsay world than what was in the first book. Many dark doings take place and are major to the plot. They also make us doubt many of the characters who we may have thought we purely good. For those who like quests, though there aren't any. Most of this book is based on sword fights, back stabbing, challenges, intrigue, mystery, politics, and captivating storylines. All in all it is a most refreshing break from the usual fantasy story lines. For sure what makes 'Elf Queen's Quest' interesting, and the other two novels in this series for that matter, is the way that the story is told. The story's chapters are broken up into sections told from the point of view of the main characters and because of this you are not stuck with the point of view of one character throughout the whole entire story or for tedious long chapters. In addition to the character of Midori, there is one other important character introduced. Read this book to see who it is. For those of you who think that no other book can beat 'Lord of the Rings' and other 1000 page epic you're wrong. In 'Elf Queen's Quest' the plot develops more, you see things in a different light and you learn more about the characters, and Robert Stanek writes brilliantly. I think though this book should only be read if you have read the first and third novel in this series. If I were you, I would order both books 1 and 3 of 'Ruin Mist Chronicles' and then order book 2 because when you are done with those books you are going to want something to tide you over until the next 'Ruin Mist Chronicles' book comes out. This book is a new type of fantasy novel and should not be missed by any fan of the genre. Happy Happy Happy Reading!
