December 29, 2007: As Madeline Baker, I too have always possesed a strong love and interest in Native Americans. So I must admitt, I am disappointed that I didn't get to read this book sooner in my life! :-) It is a beautiful story! This book lets me enjoy my admiration and I cannot wait to read more, even though I'd haveto travel backwards into the Kincaid's story. XOXO K.Jacobs

May 25, 2004: Blackie wanted to start a business in a town that had people that was not friendly to Indians. Joey was renting a building to him. The more that got to know each other the more they loved each other. Joey's family hated Indians! Joey doesn't know what to believe, but the more she talks to Blackie the more she knows that her grandmother and brother have no right to hate all Indians. Even though the old Indian ways are forever lost and times are moving on, Blackie stays connected to them in spirit. Joey and Blackie's story is one of the most wonderful story I have read. It is a favorite of mine.
