      Synopsis

Bastard daughter to the king, Rosamunde is raised in a convent and wholly prepared to take the veil . . . until good King Henry shows up with a reluctant husband in tow for her. Suddenly, she finds herself promising to love, honor, and obey Aric . . . always. But Rosamunde’s education has not covered a wedding night, and the stables are a poor example for an untried girl. Will Aric bite her neck like the animals do their mates? The virile warrior seems capable of such animal passion, but his eyes promise something sweeter. And Rosamunde soon learns that while she may have trouble with obeying him, it will not be hard to love her new husband forever."

January 29, 2007: I have read many Sands books, and love her vampire series. I was not too sure she could do this time period. I was pleasantly surprised to find she did, not a perfect or outstanding job with the time period but a good job none the less. Because the story sweeps you up and the time period becomes secondary to the story. The dialogue is great, especially Rosemundes. Rosamunde's character is very naive due to her upbringing and this causes many a funny scene with Aric. There are some moments when you question who you should feel more embressed for Aric or Rosamunde, but the scenes are innocent and good natured. Which is why I found easy to connect with and feel free to laugh out loud, literally. Its one of those books you can't put down. My only criticism is that there isn't a continuation for Aric's friend Robert.
