August 29, 2006: This fast-paced read kept me on the edge of my seat. There are all the elements of a great gothic: the mysterious hero, the brave heroine, a shadowy house wreathed in mist and danger. The suspense was subtly woven through the story... the kind that gets you thinking and wondering. I didn't figure out the villain until the very end.

January 01, 2006: When I read a review on this book, I thought, finally, someone is writing a gothic suspense book like the ones I once read by Victoria Holt and Mary Stewart back 30 plus years ago. I was disappointed in this one. The plot didn't go too far and the character development was blase. It seems the highlight was the 'romance part' and it tended to be a little too graphic. Read it for the romance only as the gothic is not up to snuff. You won't be scared by this one.
