April 03, 2009: In the beginning, you learn about a lord that got together with a witch to take control of the local land. But a Norman, that was sent to protect the locals and their land, has a great battle with them. His love prevents the witch from being killed and an earthquake buries him and the lord.
Stephanie Cahill, is looking for a new beginning after breaking up with her boyfriend and the offer of a new job in Italy with a friend of the family. Once she is there, she learns that one of her actors, for a little theater in the resort that she is to run, has disappeared. It looks like she didn't like it and went looking for bigger and better things. Then she runs into her ex, Grant, at an archeological dig just unearthed from a recent earthquake and with the lose of the actor, Stephanie has to step into the role and Grant direct. But then a local girl is found, murdered, and strange events surround her death and funeral. Then other actors start turning up ill. Then it comes out that there are good and evil vampires and that a good vampire couple is looking out for Stephanie and Grant, a key to the resurrection of the original lord.I have to say that I had a hard time getting into this book, most of the beginning was a jumble of things going on with no real purpose. It was two-thirds of the way through until it was brought up that there are vampires and what the purpose of the story was. This was one book that I could have done with out.Reader Rating:

December 21, 2006: I found this book to be a little hard to get into, but once all of the action had started, I couldn't put it down. Shannon Drake has a gift with words that can make the reader feel and sense the horror that is about to happen, and yet be drawn to the love and romance of the story. I loved all of the characters (except for Gema.) I thought that it was a very well thought out story that keeps you guessing until the very end. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes to read horror novels or romance novels. Even if you don't like these genres, there is a big mystery that becomes unfolded in the end. There is also a supernatural element to it that keeps the reader entertained. So if you need a good read, than I suggest this one. It will keep you on the edge of your seat!
