September 06, 2002: Patriot pirate, Declan O'Shae, leaves Charlestown in search of the treasure he buried years earlier in the Florida Keys. Before he sails, he's given a medallion by a mysterious gypsy. When he reaches the Keys, his boat sinks in a hurricane and he finds an underwater cave, crawls onto a ledge and falls asleep. Libby Grayson, single mom of a 5 year old, returns to her hometown of Sunset Key to recuperate from a broken relationship and help her grandfather save his tavern. When she finds a stranger asleep in a cave, she is shocked then furious at his absurd accusations. Later the same stranger shows up in town looking for work and the sparks fly. Libby is certain Declan is out to bilk the aging seniors of her town while Declan is simply trying to make sense of his impossible situation, find his treasure and see this new world he has somehow slept his way into. Libby's son and Declan form a bond that builds throughout the story, bringing many poignant moments to light. Declan has a wonderful sense of humor about his predicament and slowly helps Libby to see that trust between a man and a woman is possible. In the end, Libby realizes love has no timeline or boundries. Declan learns that sometimes, the greatest treasures of all are the treasures of the heart.
