February 12, 2000: Ms. Stuart has a flair for writing something different. How many 'fools' have been the 'heros' in historical romance? The conversation between h/h is sooo clever. Absolutely love, Nicholas' bawdy rhymes, jokes. And Julianna tries, to hold her distance. The romance itself is warm, rather than hot. There's a secondary romance that's sweet and unusual. And, the adventure brings in a fun cast...'killer' fosterling, wicked priest, enigmatic brother. This book is much fun, much romance!

February 04, 2000: This was an entertaining, enjoyable book. It does not follow the usual outline of romance novels and there lies the fun. This author has a tremendous gift for setting the reader up and keeping the reader laughing. Although the outcome is predictable, the reader is wondering, how is this going to come about. The heroine is not beautiful in the sense authors usually describe their heroines. The hero is not the usual dapper lord we are used to but he has his good points. It definitely has something for everyone--mystery, romance, treasure hunt.
