    Synopsis

With her daughter grown and flown, Nina Romano is ready to embark on a new adventure. She's waited a long time for dating, travel and chasing dreams. But just as she's beginning to enjoy being on her own, she finds herself falling for Greg Bellamy, owner of the charming Inn at Willow Lake and a single father with two kids of his own.

Greg lost his first marriage to a demanding career. Now he's determined to make a new start before it's too late. Juggling work, raising his young son and helping his nearly grown daughter face life's ultimate challenge, he has no time to fall in love. Still, with Nina Romano, love feels just right this time around.

    Publishers Weekly

Wiggs returns to the town of Avalon, N.Y., and the shores of picturesque Willow Lake with the fourth installment of her popular Lakeshore Chronicles (after The Winter Lodge). Nina Romano, single mom and ex-mayor of Avalon, is just a bank loan away from realizing her lifelong dream: restoring the Inn at Willow Lake, a historic lodge once owned by the wealthy Bellamy family, and turning it into an elegant retreat. Then she finds that Greg Bellamy has beat her to the punch. Greg and Nina have been sparring since the night Greg decked the West Point cadet who had gotten her pregnant at age 15. Now, nearly 20 years later, Greg is the divorced dad of his own pregnant teen. Predictably, Greg is clueless when it comes to running a hotel, and the only person in town qualified to act as general manager-Nina-refuses to take the position. Wiggs's uncomplicated stories are rich with life lessons, nod-along moments and characters with whom readers can easily relate. Delightful and wise, Wiggs's latest shines. (Aug.)

March 05, 2009: This being my 3rd installment of the Lakeshore Chronicles, I find myself wondering why I continued reading! I cannot like Nina. She came across as someone who believes she is more entitled because she's "suffered." Her totally immature response to someone else's purchase of her dream was just juvenile and petty. She came up with more reasons to not move forward with her life even though she claimed that's what she wanted. I see Nina as someone who spends her life selfishly analyzing others' motives when her own reasoning seems questionable. And Daisy! Did she take a page from Nina's self-help book? Personally, I hope to never hear of Daisy and Nina again. And the only reason I'm reading the next book is because I've already bought it. Hope it's better.

November 02, 2008: I have read 3 Susan Wiggs books and all 3 had a teenager having a biracial out of wedlock baby. Makes me wonder about Susan Wiggs' personal life. However to glorify this kind of behavior is extremely immature and I'm sorry that she weaves this into her story lines. There will not be a 4th Susan Wiggs bought by me.
