      Synopsis

The Scarlet Pimpernel meets The Patriot in For Love or Country. With an army of wigs and a wardrobe that favors lavender, Quincy Stanton poses as a Loyalist fop by day. By night, he wages a secret war against the British with an impressive array of 18th-century spy gadgets. Only another spy as clever as he could uncover his secret. And she does... When spy falls for spy, the results can be dangerous and hilarious. Is Boston big enough for the two of them? Only if they get closer...

July 09, 2002: Hold on! Exciting, edge of your seat romance! It's pre-Revolutionary War Boston, and Quincy Stanton is a spy masquerading as a dandy to fool the Redcoats. Add Ginny, a nosy female spy, and a few James Bond-type gadgets, and you have an innovative novel that will keep you turning the pages long after bedtime. I rarely laugh out loud at books, but Ms. Spark's quirky sense of humor had me guffawing on more than one occasion. I loved the romance between Quin and Ginny and appreciated the careful attention to historical detail. FOR LOVE OR COUNTRY doesn't read like a debut novel at all. Kerrelyn Sparks is an author you'll want to watch.

June 25, 2002: This book is absolutely delightful. It is funny, quick-witted and paints a accurate picture of Boston in the time just before the American Revolution. My one, minor, complaint is that the story moved a little *too* quickly. I wanted more description, not less. :-) My favorite part would be about Quincy and his poor wigs. The things that happen to them. ;-) Buy a copy of this book, you will not be disappointed.
