May 07, 2005: I bought the book simply because I LOVE Mercedes Lackey have enjoyed most of her other books greatly. However, I was somewhat less than impressed with this one. I was most dissapointed with the short story. 40 pages is not nearly enough time to write out a hearld's training.

December 12, 2002: This is a wonderful book that held me captive for hours, I read the whole book in one sitting it was great. The content is positive in a world slowly turning toward the darker side of humanity. The Valdemar Companion is only one of many in a series, and they are all captivating. I definitely recommend this whole series.
