    Synopsis

    Goodbye downward dog...

When Kennedy's husband, Frank, up and leaves her for his high school ex, a surfer named Sunny, then announces he's going to quit the law firm to teach yoga, Kennedy is finally free to do what she's always wanted to do with her life. Now if she can only figure out what that is. Determined to bring the spirit and independence of her former self to her life as a suburban mom, Kennedy visits some of her old New York City haunts, including Declan McGlynn's — the Greenwich Village bar where she used to work. Lo, Declan himself is behind the bar — and he's just as sexy...and single...as ever.

    Hello downtown Don Juan...

Kennedy and Declan were friends for years and lovers for one amazing night before Kennedy, a single mom at the time, picked stability over passion. Back then Declan wasn't exactly the marrying kind. But that was a long time ago, and a lot has changed — except for the connection between these two. It's enough to prove that whoever said "you can never go back" is flat-out wrong. Right?

    Library Journal

Kennedy Smith, who at 34 is nothing like the party girl she was in her early twenties, finds the secure life that she has built for herself is shattered when her husband of ten years, Frank, leaves her for another woman. Although Kennedy's life had never been totally carefree (she was pregnant at 19 and had a second child with Frank), she now finds herself trying to re-create the independent woman she had been before getting married. So when Kennedy hooks up with her former boss-and last one-night stand-there are more complications than ever. Will the womanizing Declan grow up enough so that he and Kennedy can finally have a mature relationship together? This first novel by Satran, coauthor of Beyond Jennifer and Jason and a regular contributor to Redbook, differs from standard chick-lit fare in that the heroine has the responsibilities and challenges of motherhood, giving the text added dimension. With the popularity of Allison Pearson's I Don't Know How She Does It, we may be seeing more of these kinds of novels. Recommended for most public libraries.-Karen Core, Enoch Pratt Free Lib., Baltimore Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information.
