October 26, 2009: This is another story in her "Dark" series. It brought a new twist in that she introduced another species into the active part of the story not just talking about them. I also enjoyed how much interaction there was between humans and carpathians. A great quick read. Goes nicely with the series.

I Also Recommend: Dark Desire (Dark Series #2).

September 06, 2009: I am a huge fan of vampire novels, but this series is one that you really have to be a huge fan of romance as well to become involved in. This book I recommend more for the female gender rather than a male's palate, because this storyline has some aspects to it that just would not sit well with most guys, especially those aspects of the romance where you have the male carpathian vampire forcing himself sexually on his, as they put it, lifemate; though you would think that if the girl really is the lifemate you've searched for in all the years, centuries even, you'd take greater care how you would court her and try and bring her into your life, not simply force yourself upon her and make her submit to you. I feel the author is more into "kink" and the aspect of "play-rape" and bondage than any storyline about vampires. I read this book and although it is not as bad as some of the others the author has written, I had to seriously restrain myself from throwing this novel across the room and then into the garbage. If your fantasy is taking a girl against her will is your "cup-of-tea" then this story line is for you, otherwise I recommend you finding an author is writes about vampires such as Laurell K. Hamilton, and not this author who writes more about sex and rape than anything else.
