    Synopsis

FOUR BRAND NEW STORIES FROM THE ORIGINAL AUTHORS OF THE USA TODAY BEST-SELLING SERIES. It’s been said there’s no such thing as quiet here. Ever since the metropolis first became home to paranormals, discord was named queen. But who will be her king—vampires, werewolves, demons or men? One thing remains sure: This land is a battleground and conflict is eternal. Yet there are those who join together—strangers, enemies, lovers. Here, one silken caress can be deadlier than a bullet, but some still know joy. For darkness can become light, and in one sharp instant pain can become ecstasy, and hatred, love.

November 15, 2008: I loved the CRIMSON CITY series, but this book of four short stories really didn't appeal to me. Although they're romantic and steamy, and bring back familiar characters, they didn't feel finished.

I usually enjoy anthologies of short stories, but it seems that when it deals with the vampires, werewolves, demons, and other assorted lot who inhabit Crimson City, longer is definitely better.

February 01, 2007: These stories were fun, but I'd rather read more novels in the world. I was also disappointed that Marjorie Liu wasn't one of the contributers. I hope the fact that this is a short story collection doesn't mean the series is ending. I think my favorite of the short stories was probably 'School Bites.' It's the only one that really felt like a complete story. The other stories felt like they should have been excerpts from novels.
