Powerful Magic is believable and compelling. Kenric and Megan carried me away with their tale of adjustment. The give and take of the characters was wonderfully crafted. Like petals opening from a flower, this relationship grew and blossomed in a manner that had me spellbound. The historical detail is atmospheric without overshadowing Megan and Kenric. A merry cast of characters adds another dimension to this full tale of love. Powerful Magic cast a spell over me! Allow it to carry you away!

Kenric is a fabulous hero - strong, protective, and gorgeous, he's emotionally tortured to no end. On top of that he has magical powers that can save the world and he understands the meaning of true power. Megan is the catharsis for him through most of the book. She herself has gone through a life change in her decision to leave her abusive fiancé, and her new found independence is so interesting to read. The story is a page turner, the imagery vivid and exciting. Karen Whiddon has written a winner here - love, excitement and fantasy all rolled into one fun story!

The reason Whiddon does such a terrific job with Powerful Magic is that she takes everyday life the way it happens in 2001 or 1078 and shows us that the strongest force of all is love. If such a thing doesn't exist, why are so many books written about the subject and why do so many of look so hard for that one person that makes us feel whole?
