    Synopsis

Long ago, Ephemera was split into a dizzying number of magical lands-connected only by bridges that may take you where you truly belong, rather than where you had intended to go. In one such land, where night reigns and demons dwell, the half-incubus Sebastian revels in dark delights. But in dreams she calls to him: a woman who wants only to be safe and loved-a woman he hungers for while knowing he may destroy her. And an even more devastating destiny awaits him, for an ancient evil is stirring-and Sebastian's realm may be the first to fall.

    Publishers Weekly

Sweeping onto the scene with flair and grace, this latest page-turner from bestseller Bishop (Dreams Made Flesh) flutters its eyelashes at you like a shy country maid and then sinks its teeth in like a hungry succubus. The maid is Lynnea and the succubus is Sebastian, and their unlikely romance is at the heart of the impressively uncliched battle between light and dark raging through the world called Ephemera, where the land changes in response to the deepest desires and fears of the inhabitants. When the Eater of the World came into being, the Guides of the Heart shattered Ephemera into myriad pieces, each shaped by the will of a Landscaper and linked to other pieces by Bridges; they also cornered the Eater in a Landscape unconnected to the rest of the world. Now a foolish student has set it free, and Sebastian must help his cousins, Glorianna and Lee, a Landscaper and a Bridge of unusual power and talents respectively, to trap or destroy it. Bishop's pure originality and lyrical prose bolster the occasionally uneven characterization, and the tender romances and friendships will delight fantasy readers tired of gore and lust. (Feb.) July 15, 2009: I read Sebastian and fell in love with it! The characters were amazing and Anne Bishop writes in a way that makes you want to read and not stop for a break until you've finished the book. The plot was well written and I found my jaw dropping at some of the unexpected twists and turns. Most of the main characters I wanted to hug and say "awww...you poor baby". It was a fun read with well paced action that had my heart jumping in suspense at times. There were some pretty funny parts that will have you laughing in a light hearted way while not letting you forget the dark nature of the story being told. Very entertaining. Definately a re-read for me.

I Also Recommend: The Invisible Ring (Black Jewels Series #6), Belladonna (Ephemera Series #2), Belladonna (Ephemera Series #2), Tangled Webs (Black Jewels Series #5), The Shadow Queen (Black Jewels Series #7).

February 20, 2009: This is the best book that I have ever read. Once i finished reading it I could not wait to get BellaDonna so then I could find out what happened to everyone after Belladonna gave everyone their hearts desire. And I could not help but feel bad when Sebastion's father put him in jail, the way that Ms Bishop wrote the story, I felt like I was right there amidst the happenings. It was an extrememly well written book that I WILL read again........Off to the store for more hardcovers written by Anne Bishop - she is my new best friend!!
