(Paperback - Reprint)
The national bestselling Black Jewels trilogy established award-winning Anne Bishop as an author whose "sublime skill...blends the darkly macabre with spine-tingling emotional intensity, mesmerizing magic, lush sensuality, and exciting action."* Now the saga continues-with four all-new adventures of Jaenelle and her kindred.
The "scheming woman seeks to control powerful man" plot substitutes for anything truly new or surprising in Anne Bishop's Dreams Made Flesh, a collection of four novellas set in the realm of her Black Jewels trilogy (Daughter of the Blood, etc.). As always, the author's vision of the demands-and earthy pleasures-of powerful magic compels, but these fragmentary shorter works lack the depth to be found in her novels. June 11, 2009: These stories just give the reader more information about the characters and places they know and love from the first books.I've read all the Black Jewels books in less than a week, and this one was finished in one day. When I first started reading this series, didn't really understand what the characters were or even if I liked how weird the story could get, then I realized I didn't care if I understand because I loved the people already. Janelle, Daemon, Lucivfer and Saeton tug at the heartstrings of every reader and this book just gives a fan a deeper look into their world and what happened between orginal novels and in the past. It may jump around, but it's still a favorite on my shelf!!

May 04, 2009: This book was great because it filled in the blanks in between the trilogy. I really enjoyed reading it and would reccommend it to everyone.
