    Synopsis

The national bestselling author of the Black Jewels Trilogy returns with book two in the thrilling Tir Alainn Trilogy-a dazzling tale of romance, high adventure, and thrilling fantasy.

An encroaching evil threatens the lives of every witch, woman, and Fae in the realm. And only the Bard, the Muse, and the Gatherer of Souls possess the power to stop the bloodshed.

    VOYA

Aiden is a bard, skilled in the telling of the stories. Unfortunately, he cannot seem to get the Fae, the sisterhood of the witches, to listen to his warnings about imminent danger. Aiden and his love, Lyra the Muse, must undertake a journey to locate one Fae who will heed their warnings. If Aiden and Lyra fail in their quest, the Fae will not be the only ones who will suffer the consequences. Witches, faeries, and rather nasty humans interact in this story, which is part romance, part adventure, and part fantasy. Bishop weaves elements of fantasy into a romance-filled adventure. Lush descriptions of gardens and forests seem to overshadow details about character, and the plot alternates between episodes of grand adventure and sensual romance, causing a rather schizophrenic reading experience. Fans of the first book in the proposed Tir Alainn trilogy will find this sequel interesting. First-time readers, however, might be better served by reading Pillars of the World (Roc, 2001/VOYA February 2002), before plunging back into the world of faeries presented here. June 12, 2009: From past experiences, the second book in a trilogy is usually pretty boring. Not the case with this book. I actually enjoyed it more than the first. There were even parts that just made me laugh out loud. I highly recommend this series!
