June 06, 2009: kay, so maybe witches doesn't do the characters justice. The main character is a clairvoyant who is forced to join a special unit of paranormal operatives. Her gift of seeing is used to help solve cases that are supernatural. Other women in the unit include a witch, a vodoo priestess, and an animal speaker. I enjoyed the interaction of the women together and the crime solving element. I expected the usual romance with the nonmagical detective. It's kind of par for the course in these kinds of books. But I will definitely keep up with this series.

April 04, 2009: Overall Dark Nights, Dark Dreams is a solid read. The storyline is original, and the premise of a team of women with their particular powers unique. I enjoyed seeing the blend of differences begin to form a cohesive team. The author has done a good job creating distinct characters; however, at times their development seemed two dimensional and the story is carried along more by the strength of the overall plot and not the characters. Dark Nights, Dark Dreams is Sam's story. Readers will enjoy her warmth and how her confidence grows. The romance between her and Bear is a nice addition, but I truly felt the focus was more on solving the mystery happening at Arlington Cemetery. Reader's looking for a new series with a strong blend of paranormal, mystery, and a touch or romance should give this story a try. I will be looking to see how the team grows in the second book.
