      Synopsis

Since the feds coerced sleek New York vampire Daphne Urban into spying for the U.S., she's been part of Team Darkwing. Their latest assignment: rescue the kidnapped daughters of the city's elite.

The terrorists demand gold-and access to a military secret. So Darkwing goes on the prowl in the depraved, secret vampire underworld. It's a world of passions that Daphne has always shunned, until temptation finds her. And if she wants to save the kidnapped girls, she can't get distracted...

February 23, 2009: This is the 4th book in the series and I am still hooked! Savannah Russe continues to bring her world to life with engaging plot lines and seductively good characters that are just sooo bad. The Darkwing Chronicles is a great series and this fourth installment is a wonderful addition. If you haven't read the first three books, you should, but you could get away with reading this one first and enjoying it all on its own. I would recommend Gena Showalter, Lynn Viehl, J.R. Ward, Jacquelyn Frank, Jeaniene Frost and Kerri Arthur too.

November 19, 2007: Daphne Urban is the ultimate spy and not only does she fight terrorism, she is also a vampire. She is one of three vamps for Team Darkwing, an ultra secret organization created by the CIA. In this edition, Daphne and her other team mates are called in to rescue a group of young girls kidnapped by a fringe Al Qaeda terrorist group intent on getting diamonds and a military secret weapon for the hostages. Knowing that the three vamps wonʼ t be enough for a successful mission, Daphne and her team go out into the vampire world looking for reinforcements. In order to find them, they enter the world that Daphne prefers to shun due to her past. What they end up with are two new questionable members for their team. Daphne also has to deal with her controlling mother and boss. She thinks she is in love with her latest beau, but there is the pesky problem of him being human. Not to mention, one of the latest new members is tempting her, even though she appears to hate him. He is the antithesis of everything she thinks she wants in a man, yet she is irrevocably attracted to him. Daphne and her team are facing one of the most dangerous missions yet and her love life is the last thing she has time to worry about. They must locate the hideout and save the girls before they are executed, but where to start looking? Although IN THE BLOOD by Savannah Russe is the fourth book in this series, I was able to read it as a stand-alone book. This series is absolutely great! It puts a great spin on the paranormal genre with the incorporation of vamps and terrorists. You just got to love the bad-boy vamp as well as Daphneʼ s more wholesome human interest. Personally, Daphne has the best of both worlds with her two latest male counterparts. As reviewed by Lori Sears at The Romance Readers Connection
