      Synopsis

Some people think Hawaii is paradise, but Monk knows that danger, like dirt, lurks everywhere. Look at Helen Gruber, the rich tourist who took a fatal blow from a coconut. The police say it fell from a tree, but Monk suspects otherwise. His assistant Natalie isn't exactly thrilled about Monk's latest investigation. It was bad enough Monk followed her on vacation, and now it looks like the vacation is over.

November 11, 2009: If you are hooked on Monk the series, you will certainly enjoy the books. Lee Goldberg is involved in screenwriting for the TV series and does a great job of bringing the characters to the stories. They refer back to occurrences in the TV shows so the continuity is seamless for the most part. Because each character is so individual it is easy to "hear" their voices while reading the books if you watch the series. These books have not particularly been advertised so I'm sure most Monkophiles don't even know about them. I was happy to discover them on Barnes and Noble website since the series is over this year. There will be a little less separation anxiety when Monk is no longer on TV.
