      Synopsis

With a long list of ethereal clients who need her help, Savannah lawyer Brianna Winston Beaufort's career choice is beginning to haunt her...

An already dead businessman needs Bree's help to find his murderer and prove his innocence against the charge of greed, which comes from the mightiest hand of the law, the Celestial Court. And the verdict in this case could put Bree's life on the line—as well as her client's afterlife.

      Publishers Weekly

A unique angle and smart plotting highlight the launch of Stanton's Beaufort & Company paranormal mystery series. After inheriting her uncle's Savannah, Ga., law practice, Bree Winston-Beaufort gets a call from Benjamin Skinner, a despised-and deceased-billionaire. Bree, thrust into the mysterious world of Celestial Law, agrees to represent the late Mr. Skinner before the Celestial Court, where he is on trial for greed. A cast of colorful and imaginative characters, including handsome, annoying PI Gabriel Striker, support her as she searches for witnesses to Skinner's rare altruism and untimely death. Stanton (A Taste for Murder and others as Claudia Bishop) balances the pace skillfully, seamlessly weaving Bree's bewildering supernatural experiences into her investigation. Engaging and charismatic, angel's advocate Bree will be a breath of fresh air for fans of paranormal cozy mysteries. (Dec.)

August 09, 2009: I thought I had myself a real good find here, only to be disappointed. Everything that happened seemed so random. The episode with the picture, the dog, the face. Nothing is explained in great detail. Everything just happens, then its gone. I am a lover of these kinds of book, both cozy with a good mystery twist. I have read plenty and this is only the second book I have ever read that I could not get through to the end. Maybe the second book is more developed, I dont know. If you want some good reads along these lines, try Victoria Laurie, Charlaine Harris or Shirley Damsgaard. Oh yeah, and of course Madelyn Alt...

I Also Recommend: Witch Way to Murder (Ophelia and Abby Series #1), Charmed to Death (Ophelia and Abby Series #2), Angel's Advocate (Beaufort and Company Series #2), What's a Ghoul to Do? (Ghost Hunter Mystery Series #1), Demons Are a Ghoul's Best Friend (Ghost Hunter Mystery Series #2).

July 04, 2009: This was a good first entry in a series. The background and set up of the characters was solidly done without too much being given away too soon. It is a light mystery with a supernatural aspect to it that makes it more interesting than a standard mystery. Lighter than Heather Graham, but a good read nonetheless.
