First in a sexy new series featuring a match-making courtesan.
Lady Sophia Dalby, everyone's favorite courtesanturned- countess, faces her toughest match-making case yet: her own obstinate daughter.
Lady Sophia, the Countess of Dalby and a former courtesan, arranges for her daughter, Lady Caroline Trevelyan, to marry the Earl of Ashdon by buying up his debts. But Caroline refuses to wed a husband who has been "purchased" for her and announces she intends to become a courtesan, instead. Caroline soon regrets her naïve decision, but the damage is done-until her charmingly manipulative mother (the real heroine here) lends her considerable expertise to the situation. This cleverly orchestrated, unconventional romp through the glittering world of the Regency elite-both admirable and reprehensible-is filled with secrets, graced with intriguing characters, laced with humor, and plotted with Machiavellian flair. A joy to read, it ends with a hook for a sequel involving the remarkable countess herself. Readers will be waiting. Dain (The Fall), an award-winning author of historical romances, lives in North Carolina.

May 05, 2009: I loved this book. I'm a big fan of romance novels but i didn't only like this book because of that.It showed you that opposites do attract and that the person you hate might actually be the best person out there for you. It made you want to keep reading to see what happened between Caroline and Ashdon. I was happy to see that not only did they both start off hating each other, but in between their little rifts they got to know and understand each other. Also they learned to love one another. Sure it's a little corny here and there but some of the books flaws make it the best. This is a book that I have read at least twenty times. This is a book you'll want to read again and again. I know I wasn't disappointed when I read it.

March 02, 2008: I heard the author refer to this book as a 'romp,' and I couldn't agree more. The playful, fast-paced back and forth between the large cast of characters will keep you turning pages and laughing as you go. Enjoyable read, well done, and lots of fun!
