A wallflower in the spotlight can do one of two things: wilt, or blossom...
Violet Greenfield's life changes forever when a lady in giant Chanel shades tells her she could be IT, the next Kate Moss-but taller, and without the PR problems. That's how Violet winds up with a business card in the front pocket of her jeans on her first day as a senior in high school. Angela Blythe from Tryst Models in New York City wants to put Violet on a plane and whisk her into the world of high-heeled boots and oversized sunglasses. Tall, skinny Violet, who's been P-L-A-I-N practically forever.
And guess what? She's going.
Melissa Walker has written for national teen magazines and recently fulfilled a life-long dream by appearing as a talking head "expert" on VH1's The Fabulous Life of Celebrity Kids. She has a BA in English from Vassar College.

September 23, 2009: Book Review Outline
Book title and author: Violet on the Runway by Melissa WalkerTitle of review: Violet on the RunwayNumber of stars (1 to 5): 5Introduction I enjoyed reading this book so much. I would recommend this book to any teen girl. This book is about a girl named Violet that was a tall, plain wallflower. Until one day, Angela from Tryst Models in New York City, walked up to her and said that she was model material and wanted her to be a model for Tryst Models. I thought this book was amazing.Description and summary of main points Melissa Walker is the author of this book. I think she did an excellent job of getting lessons that everyday teens go through. One of them are that Violet had to leave her friends for modeling and choose to be friends with the popular girls rather than her real friends. Another lesson in the book is that Violet has to share a room with another model, Veronica Trask, who is not only mean, but the "it girl" of Tryst Modeling. Violet eventually befriends her and sees the "real" Veronica Trask.Evaluation My opinion on this book is that it is a great book for teens, because most teens face some problems that Violet has had in the story also. It is an excellent book that is hard to put down. The plot of this book is that Violet was asked by Angela from Tryst Models to be a model. Violet ends up going to New York City for Tryst Models. She starts out slow to see how much potential she has, and they realize that she has very much potential. While juggling modeling, school, friends, and deciding weather to got to prom or not it has an excellent ending. The theme of this book is "Looks aren't everything, life is more important." Conclusion The conclusion of this book is that Violet decides to go to prom instead of going to a photo shoot that could be a chance of a lifetime. Her real friends go with her, and Violet realizes that she would rather be with her real friends then her fake popular friends. This book has an excellent ending and teaches a valuable lesson. Every teen has to face choosing your real friends and your fake friends, Violet has to face the same, and the author really gets to the point in this lesson. Your final review My final review on this book is that it was an excellent book. I loved reading it and literally could not put it down. I would highly recommend this book to any teen girl that likes reading about other teen girls facing everyday problems in life. Melissa Walker is an amazing author and she did an excellent job on writing this book. You should read this book to see how great it is.Reader Rating:
