    Synopsis

Former New York City model Nickie Callahan is looking forward to the easy life when she moves to the sleepy college town of Knolls, Tennessee. But the women of Knolls are not safe. And as Nickie gets swept up in a string of brutally violent crimes, she must take matters of justice into her own hands.

    Michael Rogers - Library Journal

This 1984 thriller received praise, although the plot is strictly B-movie fodder. Nickie Callahan returns to her small Tennessee town after a stint as a New York model. Her homecoming is sullied by a string of brutal attacks against a number of women, and she decides to track down the assailant and take revenge (just call her Dirty Nickie).

    Great Fast Read!by KittinBooky

August 04, 2009: I love all of Charlaine Harris's books. This one was a great fast read, but not as suspenseful or dramatic as her other books like the Harper Collins or Sookie Stackhouse books. If you are looking for a quick murder crime/mystery then this is for you, but don't expect any surprises. The main character, Nickie, is not that deep and pretty ordinary as other Charlaine Harris characters. It has strong Southern background to it which can be a little off putting, but nevertheless a good fast read to keep you entertained for a short time.
