    Synopsis

EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED WITH ANITA BLAKE, VAMPIRE HUNTER

"It was the middle of November. I was supposed to be out jogging, but instead I was sitting at my breakfast table talking about men, sex, werewolves, vampires, and that thing that most unmarried but sexually active women fear most . . ."

These days, Anita Blake is less interested in vampire politics than in an ancient, ordinary dread she shares with women down the ages: she may be pregnant. And, if she is, whether the father is a vampire, a werewolf, or someone else entirely, she knows perfectly well that being a Federal Marshal known for raising the dead and being a vampire executioner, is no way to bring up a baby.

    Denver Post

The eroticism and the 'dramedy' of complicated relationships between shapeshifting lovers sets Hamilton's novels apart from the rest of the pack . . . Hamilton really does come off like the genre's answer to Henry Miller.

    Biography

Toss everything you think you know about vampire stories and sword and sorcery novels into an open grave, because Laurell K. Hamilton is reinventing the genres with chills, thrills, and giggles. With her popular Anita Blake and Meredith Gentry series, Hamilton is making dark fantasy fantastically entertaining again.

January 25, 2010: I read all of the books so far out about anita blake and had trouble putting each book down! The characters and the relationships they build through each book is amazing! I find myself hating and loving each character!

Is this a vampire series or a sex series?by Anonymous

January 06, 2010: When I first started reading this series, it reminded me a lot of the Harry Dresden series (also fantastic). But once I got 10 books in the series, the similiarities dropped. I feel as if Hamilton is trying for more of a vampire romance series than the action-packed series that I first came to be enthralled with. Also unlike the Dresden series, I feel that Hamilton has betrayed the reader with this complete 360 in the plot. In a 500 page book (about the average for the later novels in the series), I feel that the real action could be summed up in 100 pages or less, while the remaining 400 pages are Anita and her sexual exploits!!! Unless the series takes a turn back toward the original 6 books, it is doubtful that I will remain a fan.
