May 31, 2009: I just finished this one, and though it's different than what I usually read, I really liked it. It's got a lot of forensic type detective work as the renowned Gideon Oliver, the "Skeleton Detective" works out the evidence at hand. Uncovering a bizarre and unimagined series of events leading to a surprising discovery. He's the original Bones, only I find him more easy to relate to because he's more human and has a sense of humor. It's almost charming when he goes off talking about bones, anthropology and details. The book had me right up till the end, which I did not see coming. I think I'll be checking out the other books in this series now.
I Also Recommend: Cold Fire, Everything's Eventual.

July 01, 2005: I liked the second novel THE DARK PLACE even better than the first. I love the way his physical anthropology, what I think of probably incorrectly as forensic science, leads to clues !!
