    Synopsis

    Peace was for little girls

And Coalition starship admiral Brit Bandar was one tough woman. A mere intergalactic treaty could never get her to trust the Drakken Horde. There was too much bad blood between the Coalition and the Horde and, for intensely personal reasons, Brit wasn't sure that she was through spilling it! But now a peaceful accord had made Finn Rorkken, a notorious Drakken rogue, second in command on her starship, and--through some grand cosmic irony--front and center in her thoughts...and her heart.

    Warleader. Pirate.

Either title sat easily on Finn's battle-hardened shoulders. Though second in command to "Stone-Heart" Bandar? That one would take some getting used to. Peace required as much sacrifice as war so he'd comply even if his reaction to the gorgeous admiral fell decidedly outside protocol. But would he end up kissing or killing her if the galaxy's tentative truce turned into all-out war?

    Kristin Ramsdell - Library Journal

The war is over between the Coalition and the Drakken Horde. Now, with a new starship and a fresh charge to patrol the Borderlands for the Triad Alliance, as well as make peace among the former enemies aboard her ship, Admiral Brit Bandar sets out to help maintain the galaxy's fragile truce. Unfortunately, her new second-in-command is ex-pirate and Warleader Finnar Rorkken, former Scourge of the Borderlands and a man she thoroughly despises. Not unexpectedly, neither is prepared for the romantic attraction that flares between them or the mutual respect and emotional bond that develops as they are forced to work together against unforeseen dangers. A fast-paced, thrilling story that, while somewhat darker than Grant is known for, will appeal to fans of her earlier books (How To Lose an Extraterrestrial in 10 Days). Although based on the same world as Grant's earlier "Otherworldly Men" trilogy, Moonstruck is the first installment in her new "Borderlands" titles.

    Biography

RITA Award winner and New York Times bestselling author Susan Grant loves writing about what she knows: flying, adventure and the often unpredictable interaction between the sexes! But long before she wrote her first book in 1997, she adored telling tales. As a child, the only thing she liked more than daydreaming was an audience. At eighteen, she set out to live the stories she'd only imagined, and entered the United States Air Force Academy as a member of the third class in history to include women. There she made the grim discovery that she lacked the gene necessary to comprehend advanced calculus. Nonetheless, she graduated and spent the next seven years flying jets where she was delighted to find out that the only math required could be accomplished using her ten gloved fingers.

Now a commercial airline pilot for United Airlines, Susan flies 747 jumbo jets to China, Australia, Europe and many other exotic overseas destinations which provide her with plenty of material for her novels. When she's not winging around the world, she's flying at an even faster speed after her two teenagers, their four cats, two snakes and dog.

June 30, 2008: I did not enjoy this book. The main character was unlikeable. I did not care if she and the guy got together or not. The story was sophmoric and silly.
