    Synopsis

Inherited from an otherworldly father, enchanted blood flows through Donal Fleming's veins. Yet though his empathic ability for all creatures gives purpose to his calling as a veterinarian, life among his mother's mortal kind has left him wary, and he secretly hungers for the freedom to live unrestrained by civilized society. Until Cordelia...

Cordelia Hardcastle has always played by society's rules, confined in a gilded cage of propriety and convention. Until Donal Fleming introduces her to a passion she's never dreamed of, and a world she's never imagined.

But Donal's attraction to the remarkable Cordelia has unleashed his most primal instincts. The time has come for him to challenge his destiny and face the consequences of his impossible choice--between human love and the powers that, to him, are life itself...

    Biography

Susan Krinard never dreamed of becoming a writer. Trained as an artist with a BFA in Illustration from the California College of Arts and Crafts, she first considered the possibility when a friend read a short story she'd written--"Fan Fiction" based on the television show "Beauty and the Beast"--and suggested she try writing a romance novel. A longtime reader of science fiction and fantasy, Susan began reading romance--and realized what she wanted to do was combine the two genres. Prince of Wolves, her first romance novel, was the result. Within a year, Susan had sold the manuscript to Bantam in 1993 as part of a three-book contract, and the novel went on to make several bestseller lists.

Since then, Susan has written thirteen fantasy romance novels and several novellas, including Kinsman in the New York Times Bestseller Out of This World, and has begun a new fantasy series with LUNA Books, which launched with Shield of the Sky in 2004.

Born and raised in California, Susan now makes her home in New Mexico, the "Land of Enchantment," with her husband, Serge, her dogs Brownie, Freya and Nahla, and her cat, Jefferson. In addition to writing, Susan's interests include music--especially classical, oldies and new age--old movies, nature, baking and making jewelry for artisan beads.

Susan Krinard Can Do Betterby Anonymous

October 13, 2006: I found this book disappointing. I know S. Krinard can do better. I had a hard time getting through this book. It was slow and the characters were too stiff. It was only at the end did the story speed up. Donal and Cordelia deserve each other because the stiff formality they employ would irritate anybody else. There was no passion, no heat. I would definitely not recommend this particular book.

October 06, 2006: Perhaps I expected a lot more to this sequel because the previous book was so fantastic. I did not feel any chemistry between Donal and Cordelia, they didn't even spend much time in each others presence to develop much of a relationship. I didn't find Cordelia's character to be very likable at all, she was very arrogant and quite irritating, so much so that I actually wanted Donal to return to Tir-Na-Nog (not saying whether he did or not). I just think this book could have been made a hundred times better. It was definitely not a page turner, and took me quite some time to get through.
