    Synopsis

Sometimes even a city girl needs the comforts of home. . .

Jill Strathern left town for the big city and never looked back-until she returned home years later to run a small law practice. It turns out her childhood crush, Mac Kendreck, a burned-out LAPD cop, has also come back to sleepy Los Lobos. Even though Mac had rejected her back in high school, Jill can't deny the attraction she still feels for him.

Now Jill and Mac are tangled up in enough drama to satisfy the most jaded L.A. denizens-Mafia dons, social workers, angry exes and one very quirky eight-year-old can make even the simplest romance complicated. And it all goes to prove that when it comes to affairs of the heart, there's no place like home.

January 30, 2005: This book was incredible. Jill went downhill with her previous marriage and went back uphill when she bumped heads with her past crush, Mac. Even though they come across obstacles such as mafia, Mac's eight year old daughter, social workers, and their friendship they fall in love with each other. THIS IS A MUST READ.

December 19, 2004: Jill Sathern has had a crush on Mac Kendrick forever and now she finds herself right back in their hometown, Los Lobos, at the same time and next door to each other. Both have been off to the 'big city' Mac's been married and divorced and has a 8 y.o. daughter, Jill's just left her 'lying weasel rat fink dog' husband, lost her job because of him and had no where else to go. We get to 'watch' Jill and Mac find love in the middle of life w/his daughter, her aunt's matchmaking, the town's many civic activities, her aunt's questionable boyfriend, Jill's need to go back to the big city and Mac's desire to live in this small town. I enjoyed this look at Jill & Mac finally coming together - Ms Mallery created a wonderful story and I want Jill for a best friend and Mac - I'll let Jill have but he is a hunk!
