December 16, 2002: NORTH COUNTRY MAN is not just another Tarzan and Jane story. This is about a former Smokejumper who has become a recluse in the sparse country of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Noah Saari is seen by few but stories of his eccentric life style abound._____________ Enter Claire Levander, a representative of a company that wants to purchase a Bed and Breakfast in the U.P. She wasn?t sure what to expect when she comes to visit Alouette and stay at the B&B, but she immediately encounters Noah and is attracted to him and wonders about him. His closest companion seems to be a bear and other assorted animals. Certainly not someone a city girl like Claire should be attracted to. Their relationship develops fast, yet slow, and is burning hot. Like a sauna. :) ____They like one another, but know that her stay there is short term and that he has a lot to deal with from his past. Despite the obvious obstacles, this couple makes you want to root for them, as they both deserve to be together and are a perfect match for one another. ____ I enjoyed this entertaining story. What makes this so entertaining is the characters and the surroundings are so real and endearing. From Cassia, who is in a wheelchair and a spitfire, to the animals that Noah takes care of and of course, to the elderly couple who run the B&B and the other inhabitants of Bay House and Alouette. There is also a bit of suspense thrown in that causes the town to band together and fight. And of course, a bit of comedy and satire that is the trademark of this author. Carrie Alexander has weaved an intriguing and entertaining story of an area that I have never seen, with sights and sounds depicted so real and she certainly now makes me want to visit.______I can also see potential future stories about the citizens of Alouette Michigan that can make this book one of a series of highly enjoyable stories. Pick up this book, grab some peanuts, sit down and start reading NORTH COUNTRY MAN.
