November 23, 2001: Attorney Annie Fischer has only unhappy memories of Medicine Creek, Oklahoma. The selling of her childhood home is the reason she has left DC to return to the town after a sixteen-year absence. However, she and Home Town Realty realtor Mike Fitzpatrick are pleasantly surprised to see one another as both had a crush on the other back in high school though neither stepped forward.
Annie plans to leave town as soon as her business is complete, but she admits that she finds her Mickey still quite attractive though he is the single father of five. Mike feels the same way, but both have been burned in past relationships making anything permanent let alone beyond Annie?s planned stay seem impossible.
Annie and Mike are a likable lead couple and his five children adds depth to the key duet especially the male hero. The story line when it focuses on the romance is quite engaging and somewhat amusing, but often is distracted by an unnecessary subplot. With the entertaining DAUGHTER OF OKLAHOMA and THE MAN FROM OKLAHOMA, Darlene Graham has done more to romanticize the Sooner state (last year?s NCAA champion football team does not count) since Rogers and Hammerstein.
