    Synopsis

When his family's nemesis tries to find a book of Druidic-elder spells, Druid Braeden Drake and his estranged wife, Alexia, must unite to prevent the evil force from unleashing a supreme reign of terror. But having Alexia return to Dragon's Lair brings along another set of troubles. For not only does she make him senseless with desire, she's also being followed by the enemy.

Though tragedy once drove them apart, Alexia didn't count on her return igniting so many powerful emotions. But as each dark night descends, revisiting the marriage bed is a temptation she finds more and more difficult to resist. All too soon Alexia realizes her heart is as much at risk as her life....

    Biography

A firm believer in dreams and happy endings, Denise lives with her husband and a petting zoo of one dog and six cats in northwestern Ohio.

Denise read books before she rode a bike. She learned early on that if a book wasn't handy it was just as easy to create her own story—and it was much more fun. At first her stories were based loosely on Disney's The Sword in the Stone. Until she discovered an entire section at the bookstore called Romance! What could be better than pirates, highwaymen or knights? The shelves were filled with the most heroic men imaginable and heroines just as brave. For a long time it was enough to simply read.

Then it happened. Denise found one book that she knew without a doubt should have ended differently. Why, if she had written that story she would have... Thus began the romance writing education of Denise Lynn.

Well, it could take an entire book to tell that sad, boring story. Let's just say that she is grateful for the Romance Writers of America and all the networking and learning opportunities the organization provides, including the opportunity to enter and final in the RWA's Golden Heart contest in 1999. That's one birthday phone call she'll not forget. But her favorite call came in January of 2002—from the Harlequin Historical editor.

When not hunched over a keyboard or daydreaming about another story or wishing she was hiking out to Charlie's Bunion, Mount LeConte, the Chimneys or any other spot in eastern Tennessee, Denise can be found in the dustiest section of the local library with her nose stuck in the most fascinating research book.

February 15, 2009: "Dragon's Lair" is Denise Lynn's debut story for Harlequin's paranormal Nocturne line. Her tale involves dragons, sorcery, and love lost and found.

Alexia fell in love with Braeden hard and fast. She learned to live with his passion for work and challenge, his neatness, and even his magic. But when she suffered a miscarriage after a suspicious car accident, their marriage fell apart and she ran. Now pages from a mysterious ancient grimoire belonging to Braeden's family have appeared on her desk along with strange voices in her head and men trying to kidnap her. When her home is firebombed, she has nowhere left to turn...except Braeden.

Braeden has never lost track of Alexia, she's still his mate. But with danger to his family looming ever closer, can he trust her?

Interesting story, very hot sex, and a cool twist on dragon magic. My only beef was the antagonistic relationship between the hero and heroine. Their lack of communication made it hard for me to believe in their love. I still enjoyed "Dragon's Lair" and will keep an eye out for more by Denise Lynn.

November 02, 2008: Nathan the Learned has been waiting to assume power since the year 1172. That's a long time to wait, but Nathan's been a busy man during those centuries, killing and plotting to acquire an ancient medieval manuscript. Learning the Druidic spells within that text will enable Nathan to rule the world, spreading his terror and control according to any whim or well-thought-out plan.

Druid Braeden Drake and Alexia, who has been separated from Braeden for a brief time, now possess the manuscript. But Braeden doesn't have the knowledge or complete Druidic power to decode its contents and he wouldn't even have the manuscript had Alexia not been the target of an attempted attack and even possible murder. Neither are aware of the contest happening behind the scenes between Nathan and an imprisoned, dying wizard, a battle vying for the minds and hearts of the young couple thrust together.

Passion and lust are ever looming between Braeden and Alexia, sometimes fought and denied and often devouring them to the point of oblivious satisfaction and more. But something about this attraction-repulsion game is totally off as their totally consuming passion seem to arise at the most inopportune times, moments when Alexia seems about to unravel pivotal clues to parts of the book controlling their lives. Druid Braeden is only partially aware of Nathan's sinister plot.

Denise Lynn once again has crafted an absolutely astonishing, unexpected story and conclusion that will thrill every reader rooting for Braeden and Alexia's healing reunion and insatiably curious about the outcome of the battle for the Druidic elder spells.

Dragon's Lair is the best of all Denise Lynn's terrific novels!
