    Synopsis

Plucked from the depths of hell, former military sniper Reno Manchahi was hired by the government to kill a thief, but he had a mission of his own. Descended from a family of shape-shifters, Reno vowed to get the revenge he'd thirsted for all these years. But his assignment went awry when his target turned out to be a powerful seductress, a woman who risked everything to fight a potent evil.

They had a combustible connection, yet he struggled to reveal the truth about himself--his Apache upbringing, his Jaguar pride, his death plot. Soon, Reno had to transform himself into a true hero, accept this new love and conquer the enemy that threatened them all. He had to become a Warrior for the Light....

    Biography

Lindsay McKenna has a life that she divides into a pie; or maybe a huge pizza would be a more appropriate symbol! Most important to her is her Native American heritage, which has taught her that living life and taking risks is important, rather than standing back and letting life pass her by. She lives her life according to this philosophy, and it shines through the books she loves to write: romance, adventure and suspense topics. Lindsay started writing at age thirteen and continues to hone her writing skills. At thirty-five, she sold her first romance novel. The rest is history. She is credited with writing the first military romance novel (Captive of Fate, 1983, Silhouette Special Edition) and has created a thriving sub-genre within the romance field! Her many experiences in the U.S. Navy are the back drop for her very successful Morgan's Mercenaries, which is an ongoing series in Silhouette.

Today, she lives outside Sedona, Arizona. Her mother, Ruth, who is 83, lives with her, in the tradition of Native Americans who believe in taking care of their extended family, within their own home. Her husband, David, a retired civil engineer helps Lindsay and her mother to run the fruit orchard, greenhouse and the many, many flower planters where Lindsay makes her wonderful flower essences. She has one horse, Cinnamon, an Arabian mare, a golden retriever named Dusty, and three cats.

Lindsay loves to hear from her readers and loves to know what they'd like to see her write next. You can contact her at www.medicinegarden.com to see her website. October 20, 2006: I enjoy this author usually and am a reader of every type of romance fiction, including sci-fi, however, I do like to ensure that there is some spark between the characters that grounds the book in 'romance'. This book had no spark and towards the end it rambled into a crazy gibberish of details in preparation for the setup of the forthcoming series. I'll save my time and money, I suggest you do the same.

July 28, 2006: Shapeshifter Calen turns into a jaguar as she uses her powers to protect the esmeraldos from the mercenaries employed by the Guild owners of the Santa Maria Emerald Mine, who have orders to shoot to kill anyone on mine property. Calen, who masquerades as El Espanto, (the Ghost) protects the esmeraldos by instilling fear in the mercenaries which leads them to quit their jobs. The guild hires former convict and superb sniper Rio to infiltrate the esmeraldos so he can learn who El Esparto is and kill him. --- Rio, also a shapeshifter, flies down to Ecuador and poses as a medical technician but Calen knows he was hired to kill her. They soon learn that they both have Warriors of the Light birthmarks and a vision leads them to find one of the emeralds in the Emerald Key necklace. Legend has it she will find, with some outside help, the other ones scattered throughout the world and when she wears it she will usher in 1000 years of piece. The other part of the legend goes on to say that a woman who is part of the dark side is also looking for the emeralds and if she finds them, the world will be destroyed. When Rio learns Calen?s secret identity he becomes her protector and makes an enemy out of the Guild and mercs who want to kill him. Only a miracle will leave them free to love one another. --- Lindsay McKenna has written an exciting and enthralling paranormal romantic thriller that sets the stage for a gathering place for the warriors of the night and the people who will be drawn to the upcoming quest. Both the hero and heroine have lost those they loved to violence but they are able to find strength through one another. UNFORGIVEN is a fast paced, character driven thriller that will keep reader attention at rarely achieved levels. --- Harriet Klausner
